EMPOWERHOUSE with Habitat for Humanity of Washington, DC, is the first Passive House-certified project in the region and one of the first in the United States. Originally part of the Solar Decathlon on the National Mall, it provides two units of affordable housing for low-income families and led to the construction of six more.
IVY CITY envisions the redevelopment potential of vacant and underutilized land surrounding the historic Crummell School in Northeast Washington. Breaking up superblocks and adding mixed-use buildings are two ways to improve and enliven the neighborhood without fundamentally changing its character or scale.
